The United States is the melting pot of the world, right? So why is there so much hate surrounding Coca Cola’s Super Bowl ad?
The ad, which can be seen above, features people from all creeds and colors, all races and religions, singing “America the Beautiful” in their own native tongues. I found the ad refreshing and welcoming, and was quite frankly disgusted to see some people’s reactions to this progressive ad campaign.
I came across a post from USA Today which featured some reactions to the commercial that were seen on Twitter. One that left me speechless was posted by Twitter user @vonzion and said “Hey @CocaCola This is America. English, please. #SB48” And while it’s hard for me to even look past her grammatical errors, it’s even more difficult for me to wrap my mind around the fact that in this day and age, people can be so close-minded.
America truly is beautiful. America is a nation of opportunities and dreams, and we as a nation should embrace the diversity that has made us as great a country as we are today.
So kudos to you, Coca Cola, for reminding us that America is only as beautiful as the sum of its parts, parts that are wonderfully diverse.
